Clothesline

As I hung laundry on the line today, I was thinking about how much I enjoy hanging laundry outside to dry. I’m blessed to live in a rural area without neighborhood covenants. We get plenty of wind blowing across the open fields so things dry quickly and without very many wrinkles.

It seems like during the winter that laundry takes forever because I’m tied to the dryer. However in the summer once its on the line, I’m done until its time to bring it inside. I think its more fun to fold too because everything smells so good.

If you live in an area that doesn’t allow permanent clotheslines, how about the Frost drying rack from Ikea?

This could go easily on a deck or small porch. When its folded up, it takes up a mere 4 inches of space. The steel frame is powder coated so it won’t stain like the wood racks sometimes do. It also won’t get the funky mildew smell like the wood racks.

  1. I have a red-framed rack just like that! It doesn’t hold a lot, but is very handy for things I don’t want to put in the dryer. A friend I worked with had it in Italy when she lived there. She didn’t have a clothes dryer and that’s what she had to use.

I really want a full sized clothes line in my yard. I have a rope with two sections, but they always sag. I know what you mean about the clothes smelling fresh. I love that! :D
