Creating a mail center part 2
Remember I wrote before Thanksgiving about creating a mail center? I finished this project last Friday and wanted to show you the pictures. Julie at Declutter It was my inspiration.
Here’s how our old mail area looked before:
Here’s how it looks now:
That’s it. One small box. The filing cabinet everything sat on before went to the attic. Our office isn’t very big and we really only need access to the file cabinet about once a week when we do our filing. It seemed silly to take up one entire corner of the room with the cabinet. Also the filing cabinet isn’t in the best of shape anymore. I thought it was becoming an eye sore. In the now empty space sits my spider plant on a wrought iron plant stand.
The box pictured above sits on top of my desk. It takes up very little space and is light weight and easy to handle. I paid just over $10 for it at Office Max. The folders came from a stash of unused office materials we had on hand. We have eleven folders right now. We’re still testing it out to see if we need more or less folders for our needs.
The actual mail sorting process takes maybe one or two minutes at the most. If mail clutter is getting you down, definitely follow Julie’s steps for creating a mail center. I think you’ll be as pleased as I am with the results.

It looks GREAT! Congrats on your accomplishment! Keep me posted on how it works for you.
Hey, give us a hint as to what folders are inside for organizational purposes. Please!
